Its been a while, since I’ve been writing about health related stuff, but in the last couple of months I have several times been asked “How do you stay that way being vegan?” By “That way” I guess they mean in shape or looking fresh?
Either way, my response is always, its actually easier to stay healthy and lean as a vegan than on a “regular diet”. By regular I’m implying a typical carnivorous diet, a meat and potatoes diet if you will.

A little history
I grew up eating the Meat and potatoes diet, and would consider myself an Omnivore, I ate pretty much anything that came my way lol, and I had a healthy appetite as well. Although I was never overweight, I was always a “big boy” and exercised alot. Anyway back to the topic. How to stay lean and strong on a vegan diet. Well there are a million ways to skin this cat, but what is a common denominator is variety and balance. What I often see missing in a regular diet is both.
When I became vegan 6 years ago, I had to relearn nearly everything i knew about nutrition and diet, and I am still on that path learning, being an eager student, and off course it helps that I love food especially fruits and vegetables. Continue Reading →
I recently discovered F&B Gudtfood restaurant and was happy to hear that they served vegetarian hot dogs, I haven’t eaten one in ages!
The Hot dog alone is $3.50 but the combo that you see me eating below, for $7.65 comes with two dogs of your choice and lemonade. They do serve hot dogs for the meat lovers as well but I suggest that everyone try the Veggie Dog. It is better for you and taste great. I love the combo deal, cause it just fills me without being too much soy. I usually get a large order sweet potato fries with it for $4.25, altogether a great meal, healthy fast food, and conveniently located across the street from Chelsea Clearview Theatre where we catch movies on tuesdays. Its free with the optimum card ![]()
